About The Maker

Guy Mallaby is a highly refined guitar and stringed instrument luthier (maker) who has been working with guitars, building, rebuilding and repairing for the past sixteen years. With accuracy and precision, every instrument that is produced has a certain unique quality and signature sound.

Exquisite Materials

Every instrument that is made and assembled here has the finest timber selection, carefully chosen from exotic Australian desert and hinterland tone woods and exotic international tone wood species. Some of these timber species include: Victorian and Tasmanian figured (fiddleback or flamed) Blackwood acacia - Queensland Maple - Queensland desert Rock Maple - Australian/Victorian grown Atlas Cedar or (Cypress/Cypriote Cedar) - Victorian Ash - North American and Canadian Maple - Canadian Sitka Spruce and African Purple Heart are among the list.

Musical Integrity

The timbers used in every instrument are matched for tone, cut to shape and tuned piece by piece during the construction process. This allows the highest possible amount of natural warmth, depth of tone and sustain to emerge without creating any unwanted overtones. The tuning of each piece of timber also controls the note that each timber component ends up with. This helps to control all of the natural highs, mids and low end overtones and other resonant frequencies that need to be perfectly balanced and blended in order to create a truly world class instrument.
